General Information and Library Instruction
The Ondokuz Mayis University Library aims to support Ondokuz Mayis University's education programs, meets the information needs of its academic and administrative staff and students, and cooperates with other institutions at the national and international level.
Ondokuz Mayis University Library offers an extensive system to support university degree programs, research and teaching. An impressive collection of books, periodicals, e-books, e-journals, academic Internet resources and other printed material are available in the library. Extensive audio-visual and sound recording collections are also available.
The library offers essential and supplementary resources for students in all academic disciplines. In addition, the library has a comprehensive range of cultural resources.
Classes and workshops are available at all levels and focus on general orientation, research tools, electronic resources and academic uses of the Internet or a combination of these.
These workshops are offered several times each semester.
Occupying a total space of 4.748 square meters, there are 50 internet access points within the centre including 48 study carrels. Furthermore, all library locations offer free wireless access (Wi-Fi) in public areas at all times the libraries are open.
Ondokuz Mayis University collections have been organised by the Dewey Decimal Classification System. According to the 2013 statistics, the library has 100,000 volume of books, 3,700 print journals (title) 2,000 multimedia resources, 50,000 full text electronic journals, 300.000 full text e-books, 1.000.000 e-thesis, e-standards, interactive materials and 70 Online scientific databases.
The Virtual Library
The Virtual Library contains full text materials composed of more than 50,000 e-journals, 300.000 e-books, 1.000.000 e-thesis, e-standards, 70 electronic databases and interactive materials. Access to these resources is available on and off campus online. The proxy server is available only to OMU faculties, staff and students
Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (ILL)
This service is available to registered faculty members. ILL processes the requests from faculty members to obtain loans or photocopies of materials not found in the Ondokuz Mayis University Libraries. -The library is closed on public holidays.
-Library hours are extended during mid-term and final exams.

Borrowing & Circulation Policy
All Ondokuz Mayis University faculty members, students and staff as well as the dependents of the Ondokuz Mayis University personnel are eligible to borrow books. Any material taken out of the library must be checked out by the borrowers at the loan desk.
Newspapers, journals etc. from the Reference Collection are not for loan.
Books and other library materials are lent out for different periods, depending on the user's status. Ondokuz Mayis University Library has several types of users. The maximum number of materials that can be checked out and the length of the loan period for different users are as follows:
Academic Staff-7 items only (book)-90 days
Administrative Staff-4 items only-30 days
Graduates-6 items only-30 days
Undergraduates-4 items only-15 days
All items held in the reserve collection are marked “Reserve” in the library catalogue.
