Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, together with an accompanying delegation, paid an official visit to the University of Pristina, one of Kosovo’s long-established higher education institutions. During the visit, opportunities for academic cooperation and joint projects between the two universities were discussed.
OMÜ Delegation Holds Cooperation Talks with the University of Pristina
A high-level delegation from Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) visited the Rectorate of the University of Pristina, located in Kosovo’s capital city, Pristina.
The delegation, led by OMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, included Dr. Ahmet Aycan, Assistant Professor and Head of the International Relations Unit, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkay Erken, a faculty member of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The OMÜ delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Arben Hajrullahu, Rector of the University of Pristina, and Prof. Dr. Rozafa Basha, Vice Rector responsible for Internationalization and Academic Exchange.
“We Are Open to Joint Initiatives in Medicine and Surgery”
During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing academic cooperation between the two universities, developing joint research projects, and taking concrete steps particularly in the fields of medicine and surgery. OMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın presented proposals regarding potential academic and scientific collaborations in these areas.
In response, Prof. Dr. Arben Hajrullahu, Rector of the University of Pristina, emphasized that the two institutions also share common interests in fields such as information technologies and engineering, and expressed their openness to cooperation in line with these mutual interests.
Student- and Academic-Centered Agreements Targeted
At the conclusion of the meeting, both universities reached a consensus on structuring future collaborations in a manner that would benefit students and academic staff, laying the groundwork for sustainable and mutually advantageous partnerships.
